The science of agentic AI — and the engineers who put it to work.

East Rock was founded by an ex-Yale postdoc and Y50K Entrepreneurship Competition winner who came out of academic research convinced that the most useful thing PhD-grade engineering could do was ship production software, not write papers. For two decades, the team has been guiding companies through periods of rapid technology change — from the mobile and cloud transitions to today’s shift to agentic AI.

We provide consulting, integration, implementation, and training to optimize business processes and build production-ready AI products from concept to delivery. Actual systems, deployed, running in production, in use at Riviera Partners, Insight Partners, Goldsmith, and Yale.

Strategy, build, and training in one team

Every engagement is led by an East Rock principal — PhD-level engineers and senior researchers who own the AI strategy, the integration, the production deploy, and the training that comes after. We pair principals with senior engineers from a vetted bench of long-term collaborators we’ve shipped production systems with for years.

The result: agentic AI built by people who’ve spent over a decade engineering production systems — in executive search, EV fleet ops, regulated retail, HR analytics, and more. The people advising you are the people writing the code. When the engagement ends, the team you trained is ready to run what we built.

Founder

Former Yale Researcher

Steve, a PhD robotics engineer and former Yale researcher, founded East Rock Software in 2012. He leads AI strategy and client engagements, drawing on deep agentic AI expertise and 20+ years of guiding companies through technology transitions.

Alex

Alex

Senior Research Engineer

MSc, Yale University

Alex brings deep research expertise to our agentic AI engagements. With an MSc from Yale, he bridges academic rigor with production engineering — building the agents and systems that ship.

Jeff

Jeff

AI Consultant

MIT

Jeff advises on AI strategy and system architecture across client engagements. His MIT background and deep experience in applied AI help clients identify the highest-leverage opportunities and turn AI roadmaps into shipped systems.

Engineering Operations

Mike leads operations across East Rock — engagements, the engineering bench, client onboarding, and the day-to-day mechanics of getting senior AI engineers onto a client's build fast.

The bench behind the build

Beyond the principals, East Rock works with a bench of senior engineers we’ve collaborated with across years and projects. When a build calls for specialized expertise — agent frameworks, retrieval, ML ops, data engineering, regulated systems — we pull in engineers who’ve already shipped production systems with us. The team you get on day one is a team that’s been shipping together.

Rooted in New Haven, working globally

We’re based in New Haven, Connecticut — home to Yale University and a growing tech community — with clients across the US and abroad. Being close to both academic research and major markets like New York and Boston keeps us connected to the latest work in agentic AI, while staying hands-on with every engagement.
